Built on parts, knowledge and relationships.
Wheel Equipment Inc. began in 1965 when Mike Sr. started the business from a small warehouse behind his home. As customer needs grew, the company moved twice to expand its inventory while keeping the personal service of a local, family owned business.
Today, Mike Sr.’s sons run the business and his grandson serves as General Manager. Our knowledgeable associates help customers find the right components for landscape, flatbed and travel trailers and can offer practical guidance on selecting and installing the parts you need.
Supply chains can change, but our commitment does not. We work closely with vendors on availability, keep customers informed and take pride in longstanding relationships throughout Tucson and Southern Arizona.

Trailer parts questions? Start here.
Finding the right trailer component often comes down to measurements, capacity and fit. These answers cover common questions, and our team is available when you need help identifying a specific part.
How do I choose the right axle for my trailer?
The right axle depends on factors including your trailer's weight capacity, intended use, frame configuration, axle spacing and required ground clearance. Straight and drop axles serve different applications. Because axle fit and capacity are important to safe operation, bring your specifications, measurements or existing axle information to our team so we can help you identify the appropriate replacement.
What is the difference between a drop axle and a straight axle?
On a straight axle, the spindles are generally aligned with the axle tube. On a drop axle, the spindle position allows the trailer frame and deck to sit lower. A lower deck can make loading and unloading easier, while a straight axle may be selected when additional ground clearance is desired. Exact fit depends on the trailer and application.
Can I use trailer lights on a boat trailer?
Yes, but lights intended for marine use are the better choice for boat trailers because they are designed to handle repeated exposure to water and help reduce corrosion related problems. Check the light rating and wiring requirements for your application before installation.
How do I prevent rust and corrosion on trailer running gear?
Regular cleaning, dry storage when possible, routine inspection and appropriate protective coatings or lubricants can help reduce rust and corrosion. Components exposed to water, road salt or harsh conditions may need more frequent attention.
How do I measure the bolt pattern on my trailer hub?
The correct method depends on the number of wheel studs. Even numbered patterns can typically be measured from the center of one stud to the center of the stud directly opposite it. Five lug patterns are measured differently. If you are unsure, bring the hub, wheel, a clear photo or your measurements to our warehouse and we can help you identify the pattern.
What are electric and hydraulic trailer brakes?
Electric trailer brakes use an electrical signal from the tow vehicle and brake controller to activate the trailer brakes. Hydraulic systems use pressure created through a hydraulic actuator on the trailer. The correct braking components depend on the trailer, towing setup and application.
How do I troubleshoot trailer light problems?
Common causes include failed bulbs or light assemblies, damaged wiring, poor grounds, corroded connections and faulty plugs or connectors. Start with a visual inspection and test the electrical connection. If you are replacing components, our team can help you find compatible lights, wiring and related parts.
What are the main components of trailer running gear?
Trailer running gear commonly includes axles, suspension components, wheels, tires, hubs, bearings, seals, brakes and related mounting hardware. Wheel Equipment stocks many of these components and can help you identify what you need.
What kinds of trailers do you carry parts for?
We help customers find components for landscape, flatbed, utility and travel trailers, along with a wide range of wheel and trailer running gear applications. If you are unsure whether we carry what you need, call us at 520.889.3949.
What should I bring with me when looking for a replacement part?
Bring the old component when practical, along with any visible part numbers, manufacturer information, measurements and clear photos of the trailer or mounting location. For axles, hubs, wheels, bearings and brakes, accurate measurements and capacity information can be especially helpful.
Do you have the part I need in stock?
Our 15,000 square foot Tucson warehouse is stocked with more than 18,000 items. Inventory can change, so if you need a specific component, call 520.889.3949 before your visit and our team can help check availability.
Can you help me figure out which part I need?
Yes. Product knowledge and personal service are a big part of what we do. Our experienced staff can help narrow down compatible components based on the information you provide. For safety critical towing and running gear components, always confirm specifications and proper installation for your exact application.
